Armed Citizen® Today

An attempted store robbery was stopped by an armed bystander in Rapid City, S.D., according to police reports.

Late at night on Friday, January 24, the 25-year-old suspect entered a convenience store and attempted to steal merchandise. A store worker confronted the man, who then brandished a knife, threatening the employee. A bystander who was in the store drew a firearm and detained the suspect until police arrived. Officers took the robbery suspect into custody, and he is currently jailed and faces three counts of aggravated assault. (KOTA TV; Rapid City, S.D.; 1/27/25)

Two men, acting strangely, entered the North Nashville, Tenn., grocery store of Wayne C. Garner and ordered cigarettes. Garner placed the cigarettes on the counter with one hand and grasped a 38-cal. revolver under the counter with the other.

When one of the thugs drew a .45-cal. semi-automatic out of his pocket, Garner quickly raised his gun and fired. The gun-wielding bandit fell dead, and his companion fled. (The Nashville Tennessean, Nashville, Tenn.)
