Shadow Systems announced the launch of the Axio 9 mm pistol platform, a new full-size, duty-capable handgun engineered from the ground up around an all-steel chassis design. Offered in two trim levels, Axio and Axio Pro, the platform is also available in a 4.4-inch configuration for shooters who prefer a longer sight radius and enhanced controllability. Axio represents a “clean-sheet” project centered on best practices of handgun performance: mass distribution, geometry, recoil management and control. At the core of the platform is a precision-machined steel chassis that places weight where it is most effective, delivering balance, rigidity and a precise slide-to-frame fit.

Central to Axio's performance is the Overstroke Slide System, which increases slide travel and dwell time to manage recoil impulse and support consistent operation across a wide range of ammunition. The pistol is paired with an Octagon Barrel, featuring a multi-faceted geometry engineered to balance strength, weight and durability while contributing to consistent lockup and predictable handling. The Axio platform also marks the introduction of Shadow Systems' next-generation trigger system, engineered to deliver a smooth, consistent pull and a crisp break, with pull characteristics tuned by configuration while remaining fully drop-safe and suitable for duty use. While the system is capable of a range of pull characteristics, production AXIO models feature a 4-pound trigger, while Axio Pro models utilize a refined 2.5-pound pull.

"Axio wasn't about adding features for the sake of differentiation," said Trevor Roe, CEO of Shadow Systems. "It was designed from first principles, with an uncompromising focus on recoil control, build quality, and a striker-fired trigger system engineered to set a new benchmark. Every design choice was made to elevate how the pistol shoots and how confident the shooter feels behind it."

Ergonomics were a primary design focus throughout the Axio platform. The pistol features interchangeable side grip panels which are available in textured polymer (Axio) and machined steel (Axio Pro) at launch. A low-profile slide release reduces interference while maintaining positive operation. Optimized slide serrations and a serrated line along the top of the slide reduce glare and assist with visual sight tracking during rapid fire.Axio is optic-ready and engineered to support modern pistol optics while maintaining co-witness with iron sights. Both Axio and Axio Pro are compatible with aftermarket sights and modern accessories without compromising reliability or ergonomics.

The Axio Pro model includes additional premium features and finishes that further enhance refinement and out-of-the-box capability, while the base Axio delivers the same core architecture and performance at a more accessible price point. The Axio pistol platform will be available through authorized dealers nationwide with market price starting at $1,999 for Axio and $2,249 for Axio Pro. The pistol ships with two 18-round magazines.
