Magpul Hunter American Stock 2022 F

Magpul's out of the gate in 2022 with another upgrade option for a popular lineup of bolt-action rifles. This time, the company's taking aim at the Ruger American lineup, specifically Predator and Ranch models of the American, with its all-new Hunter American Stock. Ruger's Predator and Ranch models are designed to work with STANAG magazines, and the Magpul Hunter American Stock preserves this compatibility with a specially designed magazine well.

The Magpul Hunter American Stock preserves many of the lines and features found in earlier Hunter stocks from the company, such as the steeper pistol grip angle, flat fore-end and, of course, M-Lok compatibility. However, there are several stand-out features in the new stock, one of which is the STANAG magazine well, which includes a locking latch at the rear of the well and just in front of the trigger guard for easy removal of the magazine. The well also features a slightly beveled opening that facilitates fast loading.

Each Magpul Hunter American Stock is designed for short-action models of the Ruger American, and the new stock is built with reinforced polymer construction paired with an anodized cast-aluminum bedding block and all-steel recoil lugs to maximize accuracy and performance from Ruger rifles. The stock is sized to accommodate guns with barrel profiles up to a Medium Palma contour. At the rear of the stock, you'll find customization options in the form of an adjustable length-of-pull, as well as optional cheek risers in 0.00", 0.50" and 0.75" heights. The gun comes from the factory with a 0.25" riser already installed.

At the front of the Magpul Hunter American Stock are M-Lok slots on both sides and the bottom face of the fore-end, which features a flat face that rides bags and ledges with ease. There are also two dimpled drill points on the underside of the forearm that allow owners to install standard swivel studs. Push-button sling-swivel mounts can also be installed in the rear of the stock by purchasing an optional Sling Mount kit from Magpul.

The Magpul Hunter American Stock weighs 3.3 lbs. and is designed to fit right-hand, short-action models of the Ruger American Predator and Ranch only. Black, FDE, gray and OD green stocks will be available, and the suggested retail price on the unit is $299.95. For more information, visit magpul.com.

First Look: MDT Hand Cannon Slingshot

Slingshots are fun, but they can also be a legitimate backup defensive tool—in 2023, a 13-year-old Michigan boy saved his 8-year-old sister from being kidnapped by using a $3 slingshot to fire a marble and a rock at the assailant, striking him in the chest and head.
