The ROSE Program was introduced Jan. 12th, 2023, under Lena Miculek. The ROSE Program is a shooting program created specifically for women. It aims to create a community of women in shooting that can learn about shooting and self-defense. It also aims to build confidence in women. I had the opportunity to talk to some of the women who are part of the Rose team at the annual 2026 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Houston, Texas. Olivia Gallivan is the firearm product manager for ROSE, and I had the chance to briefly interview her.
When asked what her favorite part of the program Olivia Gallivan, said “my Favorite part of the ROSE program is that it is very welcoming to women with all kinds of background, skill levels, and experiences, and it offers an environment for them to work and learn how to shoot at their own pace. We also have a great team of women at SIG that contribute and work toward growing the program every year.” The ROSE program offers shooting retreats and seminars tailored to women and taught by women instructors. The ROSE program ensures women can learn how to shoot and defend themselves in a way that empowers women and ensures they feel comfortable. To be a part of the community it isn’t mandatory to attend such training events.
ROSE has an exclusive Facebook account which aims in bringing women together in a safe space. Rose also offers instructional videos on its YouTube page ROSEbySIGSAUER such as what to bring to the range for the first time. Its YouTube page also shows the products they have, how to clean them, and how to use them. SIG's ROSE guns have rose-colored accents and rose designs to make them unique and different to other SIG products.
One of the products SIG offers is its ROSE starter kit, which includes nearly everything a new shooter could need. The ROSE P365 kit includes: 9 mm SIG P365, magazine loader, two mags, the pistol, training rounds and a Vault Tech case to safely store the pistol. The price of the kit is about $300 more than the standard P365 (about $600), but for good reason, as it makes starting your shooting journey a little easier.
I am a relatively new shooter, and knowing a community like this exists to help other women try something new to either protect themselves, their families or just wanting to have fun is truly encouraging and inspiring. Beginning the shooting journey as a female can be intimidating, as shooting is a predominately male-dominated activity. The ROSE Program eliminates those pressures and worries for those who are hesitant to start their shooting journey.
When asked what advice Olivia Gallivan would give to new shooters or women who are considering starting, she said, “Absorb all the information that everyone gives you. You will get great advice and not-so-great advice. The skill I learned from ‘listening’ to everything is to weed out the advice that is not so great and apply the information that works for me and my needs, take classes from reputable organizations and always have fun!”
During my short time learning how to shoot, I can confirm that those in the shooting community want to help and give advice. While my father has been the one teaching me whenever we go to the range, there is always someone there who offers a little advice to me. Sometimes, the advice works, and other times, it doesn’t, but as Olivia said it’s important to figure out what works best for you.
It was an honor to get to meet some of the women working on and helping to improve the ROSE by SIG SAUER at the 2026 NRA Annual Meetings in Houston, Texas. Their goals and attitude towards the shooting community truly inspired me not only as a shooter but as a young woman who aspires to positively impact my own community as they have. ROSE by SIG SAUER is more than a product. It is a community built to empower women across the nation.
