Armed Citizen® Today

On the afternoon of Sept. 23 in Houston, a man allegedly broke down the front door of an elderly man’s home. The homeowner repeatedly told the stranger to stop and then to leave the home, but the suspect refused to comply. The homeowner retrieved his .38 and shot the suspect. The suspect was taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition. (khou.com; Houston, Texas; 9/25/26)

Thomas Parr, a bar owner in Collinwood, Ohio, returned home to his apartment in the early morning hours to discover an intruder armed with a shotgun had broken in during his absence. When the burglar's shotgun malfunctioned, Parr grabbed his handgun and fired twice, killing the armed robber. Police later found a car loaded with stolen goods parked near Parr's apartment.
