At about 7 p.m. on Aug. 12, a 32-year-old man in Parkland, Wash., demanded to be let back into a house from which he had been evicted. The property owner was inside and refused him entry. A Salt Lake City, Utah, homeowner was disturbed late at night by a knocking at his door. After telephoning police, the homeowner armed himself and answered the door. An armed man standing in the door fired at the resident, who returned fire. In the ensuing struggle the homeowner fatally wounded the man. (The Tribune; Salt Lake City, Utah)
