Armed Citizen® Today

In Chicago, a homeowner called police in the early morning hours of April 6 to report that he’d shot an intruder who’d charged at him in his home. Police arrived to find the homeowner performing CPR and they took over the life-saving attempt, but the intruder died at the scene.

The 33-year-old armed citizen is a concealed-carry license holder in the state. His home is located across the street from a district police station. (cwb, Chicago, Ill., 4/6/26)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives – June 1987

An elderly Seat Pleasant, Md., man in poor health was working in his basement when he heard a burglar attempting to break into an upper window. The 76-year-old homeowner ordered the crowbar-wielding burglar to leave, but when the intruder refused, the resident went for his gun. After the man again refused to leave, the homeowner fired and wounded the intruder, then held the man on a ladder until police arrived. Authorities said the elderly resident would not be charged.
