Since 1958, the Savage 110 has been the company’s flagship centerfire bolt-action rifle, offering an affordable and customizable firearm that has evolved with the times. Earlier this year, Savage announced next-generation updates for the 110. Now for the first time, the Savage 110 will be offered as a rimfire model.

The Savage 110 RF is a rimfire rifle that uses a full-size Savage 110 action and full-size AICS-pattern magazines adapted for the .22 LR cartridge.

The 110 RF is a full-size rimfire rifle based on the 110 action. This has two advantages. First, this allows the 110 RF to function as a low-recoil training rifle that uses the most affordable ammo for those who use the 110 for hunting and competition. Second, it allows the rimfire rifle to be compatible with the extensive aftermarket of centerfire Savage 110 parts and components.

Two major changes are made to the 110 to adapt it to a rimfire chambering. The bolt, which still uses front locking lugs, utilizes a newly-designed reversible front baffle that allows the bolt throw length to be quickly adjusted by the user, giving it either the travel of a traditional short action for training purposes and or a shortened length for a .22 LR cartridge for faster operation.

The 110 RF’s bolt uses a unique baffle design that changes the length of its operating stroke.

Using AICS-pattern magazines, the 110 RF comes with a L3i Elite 10-round magazine that mimics the size of a centerfire magazine. An adjustable magazine latch allows the user to adjust the magazine to optimize feed angle for various .22 LR cartridges.

Barrels on the 110 RF are precision-button-rifled and have a Bentz match chamber. Savage says this, combined with centerfire-style front locking lugs, will make the 110 RF its most accurate rimfire to date. Headspace is controlled by the same barrel locknut system used in centerfire 110s. All barrels have their muzzle threaded 1/2x28 TPI for use with suppressors. Rifles come with a 20-MOA rail for mounting optics. Bolt knobs attach via 5/16x28 TPI threads to allow for customization. All 110 RFs come with Savage’s AccuTrigger.

The 110 RF series is compatible with all accessories designed for the centerfire 110s, including stocks and triggers.

The 110 RF will be initially offered in three different models, all chambered in .22 LR. The 110 RF Core Tactical has Savage’s AccuFit V2 stock with an integrated ARCA rail and M-Lok accessory slots, a 20-inch fluted barrel, and an MSRP of $1,099.

The 110 RF Core Tactical uses Savage’s V2 AccuFit stock.

The 110 RF Magpul has a Magpul Hunter stock and a 20-inch fluted barrel, with an MSRP of $1,119.

The 110 RF Magpul combines the new rimfire 110 with a Magpul Hunter stock.

The 110 RF Elite Precision has a 22-inch unfluted barrel, a competition AccuTrigger, and its action placed in an MDT Gen 2 ACC Premier Chassis. It has an MSRP of $2,399.

The 110 RF Elite Precision is designed for rimfire competition with a competition AccuTrigger and MDT chassis.
