While Steiner is known for its magnified sights and binoculars, like every firearm optics company, the company also makes electronic red-dot sights. Steiner's handgun series is the Micro Pistol Sight (MPS) first introduced in 2021. New for 2026, the company is updating the optic with the MPS 2.0.

The Steiner MPS 2.0 is the newest generation of the company’s Micro Pistol Sight, originally introduced in 2021.

MPS optics are closed emitter miniature red-dot sights designed for use on handguns. Popular with law enforcement and military users, Steiner sought to make a new generation of MPS sights that had a longer battery life, greater durability, better ergonomics and easier maintenance.

When it comes to ruggedness, the MPS’s all reinforced all-metal housing is now rated as waterproof to 35 meters and able to operate in temperatures ranging from -40°F to 140°F.

The sight is now powered by a CR2032 battery, whose life has been increased to 90,000 hours at the middle of its eight brightness settings (six daylight levels and two night vision-compatible settings) and a new auto-off mode also extends battery life.

The MPS 2.0 uses a reinforced all-metal housing.
Brightness buttons have been increased in size for easier manipulation with gloves on the MPS 2.0.

On the ergonomics side, the brightness buttons are larger so that they are easier to manipulate with gloves and by holding both brightness buttons for five seconds, a new lockout feature is engaged which prevents the controls from accidentally being adjusted. For easier maintenance, a newly designed battery cover uses a magnet to hold the battery in place when it is being installed.

The MPS 2.0 uses a magnet in the cover to better hold the battery in place when installing it.
The MPS 2.0 uses the same 3.3-MOA red aiming dot as the original.

The Steiner MPS 2.0 maintains its original ACRO footprint compatibility and 3.3-MOA red aiming dot. It has a viewing window that is 0.83-inches by 0.63-inches, weighs 2.32 ounces and has an MSRP of $632.

The MPS 2.0 is designed not only for pistols, but also rifles and shotguns.

Earlier this year, Steiner introduced the MPS-C. The “C” stands for “compact” and the optic uses an RMS-C footprint, weighs 1.13 ounces, and has an MSRP of $575. See our Rifleman review of the MPS-C here.
