Though the company is best known for its AR-15 components and complete firearms, North Carolina’s Bear Creek Arsenal also makes 10/22-pattern rimfires and handguns. New for 2026, it is introducing its first AK-pattern firearm with the BC-47.
Bear Creek Arsenal is no stranger to the AK market, having built barrels for other AK manufacturers for years. The company's new BC-47, unsurprisingly, is built around one of its own barrels chambered in 7.62x39 mm, made of 4150 chrome moly vanadium steel and given a Parkerized finish.
The 16-inch barrel has a 1:10-inch twist rate and its threaded muzzle uses M14x1 LH threads to accept common AK muzzle devices. A traditional AKM pattern, it has a stamped steel receiver that, along with other steel components, is given a nitride finish. Sights are traditional as well, with a front post sitting inside protective ears and a rear adjustable notch.
The BC-47 makes a few concessions to modernity. It has an optics rail of the Soviet pattern mounted to the left side of its receiver and a bolt-hold-open notch in its safety lever. Furniture is polymer, with an ergonomic pistol grip, the buttstock has a storage compartment and recoil pad, and the handguard is textured with Picatinny accessory rails.
The BC-47 is offered in three variants, all of which differ only in the color of their furniture: black, gray, or flat dark-earth (FDE). The rifles have an MSRP of $899. BC-47 rifles ship without a magazine, but the company sells KCI USA metal AK-pattern magazines in 20- and 30-round capacities. For more information, see the company’s website.
