Introduced in 1990, CZ’s 527 “mini-Mauser” was based around a “shorter-than-a-short-action” receiver scaled around compact cartridges, like the .223 Remington, .22 Hornet and 7.62x39 mm. The model was discontinued in 2021 when the company updated its bolt-action lineup with the CZ 600 series. New for 2026, the company has introduced the 600+ Carbine, the 527’s heir apparent.

The 600+ Carbine takes CZ’s mini action and places it in a package reminiscent of the company’s 527.

In 2025, CZ updated the 600 series with the 600+, which made good on the company’s promise with the original version of its cartridge-switching capabilities, with user-swappable bolt heads and barrels. Built around a scaled-to-cartridge duralumin receiver, the CZ 600+ Carbine adds an ultralight, 18.5-inch cold-hammer-forged barrel (that comes with CZ’s lifetime barrel warranty) that has its muzzle threaded.

Combined with a lightweight varnished beechwood stock, the entire package has an overall length of 37.32 inches and weighs in right at 5.5 pounds. It is currently only available chambered in .300 Blackout, with .223 Rem. and 7.62x39 mm chamberings expected to be available in the future. The result, according to the company, is “lightweight, fast-handling and versatile, with the accuracy, reliability and durability CZ owners expect.”

The 600+ Carbine combines a lightweight barrel and lightweight wood stock to make a handy and compact rifle.

The carbine version shares the characteristics of the 600+ lineup. These include CZ's patented Silent, Ergonomic and Ambidextrous (S.E.A.) safety system, a 60-degree throw on its multi-lug bolt that provides controlled round-feeding, and a user-adjustable trigger with four pre-set weights (1.4, 2, 2.5 or 3.1 pounds). Its polymer magazine is proprietary and holds 10 cartridges. It can be detached for quick loading or locked in place to be loaded through the action like a fixed magazine.

Like other 600+ models, the carbine has a magazine that can detach or be locked in place and loaded through the action.
Supplied with iron sights, including a front post with a fiber-optic insert, the 600+ Carbine also has a threaded muzzle.

Though the carbine is supplied with iron sights, including a hooded front post with fiber-optic insert and adjustable barrel-mounted skeletonized rear sight, it also has M1913 Picatinny rails machined integral to the receiver for easy optics mounting. Steel components are given a nitride finish and aluminum parts are hard anodized.

With the 600+ Carbine, CZ again offers a rifle with an action scaled to small cartridges, like the .300 Blackout and .223 Rem.

The CZ 600+ Carbine has an MSRP of $999. For more information, see the company’s website.
