A homeowner in Dyersburg, Tenn., defended himself from an evening home invasion against a trio of suspects on April 28, according to Dyersburg Police.

The three suspects entered the home around 7:30 p.m. on that Monday, forcing the armed homeowner to defend himself. In the process, the victim shot and killed one of the suspects, a 19-year-old male, and the other two suspects fled the scene. Police responded to a call of shots fired and arrived at the home about 7:45 p.m.

The other two suspects, 18 years old and 20 years old, respectively, were arrested two days later and face charges of aggravated robbery, attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. (Action News 5; Dyersburg, Tenn.; 5/2/25)

Ohio State Rep. Harry C. (Bud) Malott was awakened in his Williamsburg, Ohio, home by the sound of glass in his front door shattering. snatching up the .38-cal. revolver he keeps next to his bed, Malott confronted two would-be burglars at the front door.

The armed duo responded by firing three shots, all misses. When Malott's wife yelled, "Shoot, Bud, shoot," Malott began firing. The pair escaped, one of them possibly wounded. (The Cincinnati Enquirer; Cincinnati, Ohio)
