Armed Citizen® Today

A man attempted to rob another man in Rocky Mount, N.C., early in the morning on April 7, but the intended victim was able to draw his firearm and fend off the attacker. Police stopped a vehicle spotted leaving the area after the attack and arrested two men—one of whom was suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound—in the vehicle. The two are facing one felony charge each of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and one felony count each of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. From the Armed Citizen® Archives – May 1987

A wheelchair-bound Fort Worth, Tex., man was awakened by a burglar who pushed the 77-year-old resident out of his recliner. Falling into his wheelchair, the handicapped homeowner grabbed a handgun and while the criminal hid behind a chair, called the police. The homeowner then retreated to another room. After hearing gunshots, the resident saw the intruder had armed himself with a shotgun. He then shot and killed the intruder. (The Chronicle, Houston, Tex.)
