Gunsmith Ernest Langdon has made a career out of enhancing already-competent firearms through his company Langdon Tactical Technology (LTT). While LTT is best known for its work with Beretta, the company has also put its hand to Heckler & Koch, CZ, Glock, Springfield and Mossberg firearms. Langdon's latest collaboration is with Austrian manufacturer Steyr, and the result is the LTT ATD.

Langdon Tactical gives its treatment to Steyr’s recently introduced ATD handguns.

Introduced earlier this year, the Steyr’s AT-series of metal-framed, optics-ready, modular handguns are a modern update of the classic double-action/single-action semi-auto pistol. Chambered in 9 mm Luger, the ATD (“Defense”) Compact models are tailored for concealed carry and personal defense, with a 4-inch barrel and full-size grip that holds an 18-round magazine. Other features include a combination decocker and slide release and separate bilateral manual safeties, bilateral magazine release buttons and grip panels and a beavertail that can be customized and 3D-printed via open-source files.

LTT customizes both the standard and compensated (shown) versions of the ATD. Other options include the flat trigger shown.

Since Langdon cut his teeth with traditional DA/SA semi-auto pistols, the ATD is right up his alley. The company focuses on the trigger, reducing trigger weight, overtravel and reset and polishing internal components, which they say results in a smoother, more consistent trigger pull. The LTT ATD has an approximate 3.75- to 4.25-pound single-action pull and a 7.5- to 8.5-pound double-action pull (which is approximately a 5-pound reduction over factory).

The LTT ATD is also available as a non-compensated model.

The Langdon Tactical enhanced ATDs are available in a standard and Comp version, which has a factory compensator integral to the barrel. Options include a curved or flat match trigger and standard factory sights or Steyr’s tall sights that co-witness with optics. Each LTT ATD ships with two 18-round magazines, one 20-round extended magazine, a removable flared magazine well, two additional hammer springs, one additional recoil spring and six adapter plates for mounting most popular optics.

Langdon Tactical applies decades of experience with double-action/single-action pistols to Steyr’s new ATD.

The Langdon Tactical Technology enhanced Steyr ATD has an MSRP of $1,279 to $1,480, depending on options. For more information, see the company’s website.
