Austrian manufacturer Steyr is one of the original companies to manufacture semi-automatic handguns, starting in the late 19th century. The company's designs were used during both world wars, and its modern designs include a "Wonder Nine" and an extensive lineup of polymer-frame pistols. New for 2026, Steyr is introducing the At series of pistols, modular handguns designed for self-defense and competition.

The At series is Steyr’s new line-up of self-defense and competition handguns. AtD pictured.

Designed as a collaboration between Steyr and Slovenian manufacturer Arex Defense, At pistols are short-recoil operated, hammer-fired, semi-automatic pistols chambered in 9 mm Luger with metal frames. Their built-in safeties include a disconnector safety, a firing pin safety and a drop safety, and the pistols have passed NATO STANAG 4512 requirements. Controls include a bilateral manual safety and a reversible magazine release. Magazines have a capacity of 18 rounds, with extended plus two baseplate available. Frames have an M1913 Picatinny accessory rail milled into their dustcover. The pistols are optics ready through the use of a plate system.

At pistols are designed to be modular, with trigger components interchangeable to allow for DA/SA pistols to be converted to single-action-only. Slide assemblies are also interchangeable, and three sizes of grip panels are available. Steyr also offers a downloadable, open-source file where owners can customize and 3D print their own grips, as well as the frame’s beavertail insert.

The AtD Compact Comp is a self-defense handgun with a built-in compensator.

The Steyr At series is divided into two categories. The AtD (defense) series is tailored to concealed carry and self-defense. They have a steel slide, a cold hammer-forged chromoly steel barrel and an aluminum frame. Steel parts are given a nitrocarburized surface finish. The firing system is double-action/single-action (DA/SA) with a frame-mounted decocker. Sights are a black serrated rear sight and front sight with a white dot, both mounted in dovetails. The AtD Compact has an MSRP of $899. The AtD Compact Comp has an integrated compensator and has an MSRP of $1,099.

The AtC Base model is an entry-level competition pistol.

The Steyr AtC (competition) series is available in three models, all of which have stainless-steel slides and frames and cold hammer-forged chromoly steel barrels. Designed for entry-level competitors, the Base model has a 5-inch barrel and a DA/SA trigger with decocker. They have an adjustable black serrated rear sight and black front target post fitted in a dovetail. It has an MSRP of $1,999.

The AtC Rock pistols are hand-tuned competition pistols that have many features that are user-customizable.

The AtC Rock series have hand-finished, competition-tuned components and come with a recoil buffer spring set and hammer spring set for owners to be able to further customize their handguns. Their slides have forward serrations/lightening cuts. Sights are an adjustable competition rear sight and a front post with a fiber-optic insert fit into a dovetail. The firing mechanism is single-action-only with a manual safety. The AtC Rock is available in both a 5-inch barrel (MSRP $2,399) and 6-inch barrel (MSRP $2,499).

The Steyr AtC 6-inch Rock is the longest-barreled version of Steyr’s new competition pistols.
