I wish to thank all our members who have sent me e-mails these last 12 months. I’m doing my best to keep up with all your e-mails, but please be aware it seems I’m always 300 to 400 e-mails behind. I want to reiterate that I am reading them all as fast as I have time for. And yes, your e-mails are influencing our decision-making and actions. I still endeavor as best I can to follow up on e-mails that I need to be involved with. The e-mails that need direct action are being forwarded to NRA staff for follow-up. Thank you for all the positive e-mails; they are greatly appreciated. Lately, many of the negative e-mails contain two main recurring themes. First, many are not happy with the frequency of the print magazines or not receiving their magazines. Second, member services phone lines are not being responsive or there is a lack of e-mail responses when using e-mail to contact NRA.

As to the print magazine frequency, we are listening and hear you loud and clear. The board’s Finance and Media committees, along with staff, are examining options for increasing the frequency of the magazine issues for 2027. Please stand by.

While investigating the responsiveness of member services, some of the issues can be attributed to multiple dedicated “800” numbers where each number only deals with a specific area. For example, if you call the “800” membership line, they only have a script to deal with membership issues and to upgrade your membership during the call. They have no ability to re-route the call since they are an outside entity that only supports membership. Auto e-mail responses from old e-mail addresses that are not monitored are totally unacceptable. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. We are looking at solutions to improve member services.

To our hunters, have a safe and successful season. And to our competitive shooters, keep on hitting 10s!

President’s Survey
I want to thank the more than 1,700 members who completed my President’s survey. I know it was a little overwhelming, but it provided some excellent data that is already affecting decision-making by the board and the Association. And yes, there were some spelling errors as a result of doing it myself. I apologize for that.

Here are some of the findings:
* Satisfied with NRA’s legal work on a national level:
85% said yes.

* Satisfied with NRA’s legal work in your state:
62% said yes (overall lower due to those living in blue states).

* Satisfied with NRA’s member communications:
68% said yes.

* Recreational shooters, 88%; Hunters, 52%;
Gun collectors, 50%; Former military, 33%.

* How do you want NRA to communicate with you?
Email, 82.5%; Mail, 43%; Text, 19%.

* Would you use a Member’s Benefits program?
84% said yes.

* Would you want NRA to help with meeting like-minded gun owners?
60.9% said yes.

* Paper vs Digital: Paper magazines, 75.3%.
Why: Can read anywhere/anytime.
Digital magazines, 55.2%.
Why: Not easy to read on a small screen, 41.3%.

* Would you pay for a paper magazine:
Yes, 49%: No, 37%; Don’t need a paper magazine, 14%.

* Like to Shoot: Handgun, 96.3%; Rifle, 90.7%;
Shotgun, 69.9%; Black powder, 27.1%; Air gun, 29%.

* Are you a Concealed Carry permit holder? Yes, 79.5%.

* Is “National Right to Carry” important to you? Yes, 97.3%.

One hundred lucky respondents should have received my challenge coin by now. Thank you! I have e-mailed all the respondents to the survey who provided e-mails with my appreciation and a list of who received the challenge coins. I was hoping to send additional coins due to the overwhelming response but then learned it would cost between $7 and $9 to send each one, not the $1 to $2 I had expected. Ouch!

Political Report | Federal Firearms Rights Restoration is Officially Back

Criminal-justice reform has been distorted to mean counterproductive policies like eliminating cash bail or politicized district attorneys exhibiting a determined indifference to violence, but there is a place for sensible reforms that allow genuinely rehabilitated offenders to reintegrate into the community of law-abiding citizens.
