Following on the heels of its rollout of the CPX-4 and an all-new CPX Red Dot lineup, SCCY Firearms announced the launch of an entirely new handgun design in its DVG-1.

Initially, SCCY offerings featured a line of hammer-fired guns under the CPX moniker, available in a number of popular calibers and frame colors. However, the hammer-fired design incorporated a long, heavy, double-action trigger pull that measures about 9 lbs. To provide handgun enthusiasts with a better trigger pull and an improved shooting experience, the company developed its DVG-1 with a striker-fired design complete with a trigger pull that weighs in at 5.5 lbs., which is comparable to other striker-fired options on the market.

In addition to its striker-fired design, the SCCY DVG-1 features the company's unique Roebuck Quadlock barrel system that premiered on the company's SCCY CPX-3 (reviewed here) and CPX-4 models. This enhanced barrel design provides shooters with enhanced accuracy, since the system ensures consistent, repeatable lock-up with every shot. Additionally, the DVG-1 features the same 10-round magazine capacity found in the company's CPX handgun lineup. Other features found in the gun include forward slide serrations, enhanced grip texture, and minimal pre- and post-travel distance on the striker-fired trigger.

Each SCCY DVG-1 is chambered in 9 mm and measures 5.06" high, 6.01" long and 1" wide. Unloaded, the gun weighs 15.5 ozs. Barrel length on the DVG-1 9 mm measures 3.1 inches long, and the barrel features a 1:16" right-hand twist rate. In addition to the iron-sighted model, SCCY Firearms also unveiled the DVG-1RD in 2020, which ships with a Crimson Trace CTS-1500 red-dot sight installed into a milled slot at the rear of the slide. The CTS-1500 features a battery life of more than 20,000 hours, giving users the confidence of an intuitive aiming system that won't run out of juice for more than two years.

Shipping on the SCCY DVG models will begin in the first quarter of 2020. The suggested retail price on the iron-sighted DVG-1 is $289, while the RDS-equipped model will sell at an MSRP of $389. For more information on the new DVG-1, visit sccy.com.
