In North Harris County, Texas, (near Houston), a man was staying overnight in a relative’s smoke shop and began hearing voices coming from the closed shop area early on Sept. 28. He then spotted two masked men pulling items off the shelves.
Seeing the relative, one of the men reportedly “took a fighting posture,” whereupon the relative fired on them, striking one man and causing both to flee. The wounded suspect fled to a car wash across the street and asked them to call for help. He was transported to the hospital in unknown condition; the other suspect had not been apprehended.
This was the sixth time the business had been broken into, and no charges had been filed against the relative at the time of reporting. (fox26houston.com; Houston, Texas, 9/28/26)

While opening the door as he returned to his Bronx, N.Y., apartment, Samuel Hundert felt the door jam on something just inside the entrance. Looking through the opening, the 71-year-old saw a knife-wielding burglar inside. Drawing his licensed handgun, Hundert fired through the opened door, critically wounding the intruder.
