A Yakima, Wash. man unexpectedly found himself in a self-defense situation when a stranger allegedly attempted to rob him and the occupants of his car on Jan. 6, 2022.

The 37-year-old man was sitting in his car in a Walmart parking lot, along with his girlfriend and 16-year-old child, eating lunch before shopping around 4 p.m. that Thursday afternoon. Then, a stranger emerged from a car parked behind them, walked up to one of the car doors, opened it and produced a pistol. The would-be armed robber then demanded the occupants that they hand over money and get out of their car.

During this, the man produced his own pistol and shot the fiend several times, critically wounding him. The man then drove his girlfriend and her child to a neighboring Target parking lot and called police. An AMR ambulance crew that was on break at the Walmart quickly sprang into action after the incident in treating the stricken 31-year-old robber. They were able to resuscitate him, and he was transported to a hospital for emergency surgery and remained in critical condition afterward.

Investigators questioned the man, his girlfriend and her child about the incident and determined it to be a case of self-defense. They also noticed what appeared to be drugs present within the stricken robber's vehicle but were waiting on a search warrant to conduct a more through search. Two men were waiting for Leonard Freidberg, a 47-year-old taxi driver from Jacksonville, Fla., dispatched to an early morning fare. After the cab driver took the two to their destination, the duo assaulted Freidberg with a small pistol. Freidberg picked up his own .357 Mag. revolver and fired, mortally wounding one of his attackers. The slain robber had an extensive prior arrest record. The taxi driver was not charged. Review: Steiner Predator: 4S 4-16X 44 mm

The benefit of a lightweight rifle is lost the moment you top it with a clunky, overweight optic, particularly a lengthy one. To that end, we are starting to see an emphasis on riflescopes that are less cumbersome when mounted, such as Steiner’s Predator 4S.

A Carry-Ready Classic: Outfitting A Ruger Speed-Six Revolver

Already a fan of Ruger’s long-discontinued double-action Security-Six, Police Service-Six and Speed-Six revolvers, I simply couldn’t pass up the opportunity to acquire one of the latter in 9 mm Luger when an unfired, 42-year-old example turned up at a gun show.
