The Armed Citizen

Armed Citizen® Today

Just after 7 a.m. on Dec. 11, 2025, in Gulfport, Miss., two women were at home when a man whom both women had protective orders against broke in through a window.

The two women fled the man, who was armed with a knife and a hammer, as he slashed at them. The women managed to barricade themselves in another room, but the assailant was not deterred. As he tried to break into that room, one of the women retrieved a firearm and shot the man dead.

The 29-year-old assailant had been released from jail on bond after being arrested for kidnapping one of the women in October 2025. One of the women suffered knife wounds, but her condition was otherwise not indicated in news reports. (fox10tv.com, Mobile, Ala., 12/11/25; and sunherald.com, Biloxi, Miss., 12/11/25)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives – February 1975

Hearing screams coming from a store near his office, real estate broker Charles W. Parker, an NRA member of Jackson Heights, N.Y., grabbed his .38-cal. snub-nosed revolver, dashed next door and captured a would-be robber. The local police department awarded him a Legion of Honor plaque for "exceptional bravery."

An NRA-certified pistol, rifle and shotgun instructor, Parker has won over 40 trophies for marksmanship. The Greater New York Pistol League recognized his action with an "outstanding citizen award" inscribed "Someone Who Cared to Get Involved." (The Sunday News, New York, N.Y.)

Political Report | Trump Reiterates National Right-to-Carry Support

I am repeatedly reminded of how critical it was that the NRA engaged early in supporting Donald Trump’s 2016 candidacy—and that he won. A recent example came in June, when President Trump spoke to American workers at a Mack Trucks facility in Macungie, Pa.

Standing Guard | Standing on the Line for Freedom

This past August marks 46 years since I raised my right hand and was commissioned as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps. In the summer of 1980, I entered active duty with a firm sense of civic duty and a deep desire to serve our great nation. Like so many who wear the uniform, I was ready to contribute directly to the defense of freedom.
