Editors’ Picks 2017: Savage MSR 15s

Savage Arms is officially in the modern sporting rifle business, having released two AR-15- and two AR-10-style rifles. Savage’s MSR 15s, dubbed the Patrol and Recon, are chambered in .223 Wylde—a chamber specification that accommodates both .223 Rem. and 5.56x45 mm NATO cartridges—and are primarily outfitted in Blackhawk’s AR furniture. Interestingly, the MSR 10 rifles will be available in either .308 Win. or 6.5 mm Creedmoor. The MSR 10 Hunter, at just 8 lbs. sans optics, is a relatively trim offering for its class. And the MSR 10 Long Range features a longer, heavy-contour fluted barrel—20" for .308 Win., 22" for 6.5 mm Creedmoor—and Magpul’s PRS GEN3 fully adjustable buttstock. savagearms.com
