When two armed thugs kicked in the back door of a home in Worthington, Ky., the female resident showed them they picked the wrong victim. The armed citizen fired at both men, shooting one in the chest. The attackers retreated and jumped off the deck before the one who was shot collapsed and died. No charges were filed against the resident; the surviving alleged intruder was charged with murder because his accomplice died during the commission of a felony. Robert Joe Wade was at work in his father’s Rock Hill, S.C. liquor store when a customer leaped over the counter and beat him over the head with a metal object. Wade managed to fend off the attack long enough to grab a gun from beneath the counter and fire several shots, critically wounding his assailant. No charges were filed against Wade.
