Score two for one armed citizen. A Dayton, Ohio, woman who has been targeted by criminals multiple times has used a gun to protect herself twice. The latest incident occurred in September, when the 46-year-old fatally shot a man who broke into her home in the wee hours of the morning. At about 3 a.m. one day, she called 911 to report that someone tried breaking in through a first-floor window. Security bars there kept him out; however, the man then climbed to the second story and broke through another window. The woman hid in the bathroom and shot the intruder when he came in after her. The wounded man jumped from the second story and fled, but he was found dead nearby. The same homeowner also wounded a home invader in 2013. An investigation of the latest case is ongoing. When three men broke into a Tulsa, Okla., home, the female resident was prepared for them. According to the victim, the crooks pried her door open and broke a window as they entered her residence. Armed with a handgun, the homeowner opened fire when one of the intruders approached her menacingly. While none of her shots found their mark, they were successful in sending all three criminals running for the door. The police are working to identify and capture the failed burglars. This is not the first time that the victim’s home has been targeted by criminals. (newson6.com, Tulsa, OK, 8/31/15)
