Designed for small game and varmint hunting, Winchester’s Varmint HE features what the company terms “3/1 segmenting expansion,” in which the forward portion of the copper-plated, hollow-point lead bullet separates into three segments, each causing individual wound channels in addition to the base’s straight-line penetration.

Propelled at 1,435 fps, the 37-grain round-nose bullet has a muzzle energy of 169 ft.-lbs. Fifty-count packages of Varmint HE are priced at $7.
