Armed Citizen® Today

A July 16 incident in Memphis, Tenn., has been confirmed by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office to be a case of self-defense, according to local reports.

Police say they were initially called to the scene of a shooting just before 10 p.m. When they arrived, they found a 21-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound, and she was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. An investigation revealed that the woman had arrived at the home with two other suspects, another 21-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man. The trio began banging on the door and shouting verbal threats to the resident inside.

The two women then kicked the front door into the house, knocking it off its hinges. At that point, the armed resident inside opened fire. All three suspects have been charged with aggravated burglary, and the two women have additionally been charged with misdemeanor vandalism. The wounded suspect's condition was recently upgraded to "non-critical." (WREG Channel 3 News; Memphis, Tenn; 7/17/25)
