An armed suspect who allegedly threatened staffers inside a local business in Topeka, Kan., was shot by an employee, according to a local police statement.

Officers were called to the scene just after 11 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, after reports of a shooting at the business. An investigation revealed that the suspect had entered the store after it had closed for the night, allegedly pulled out a weapon and began threatening staff. An employee inside the business opened fire, prompting the suspect to flee. The individual later arrived at a local hospital, where they received treatment and were listed in stable condition.
