Armed Citizen® Today

Early in the morning of Sept. 26 in San Francisco, a man allegedly drilled a hole in the front door of a 73-year-old Vietnam veteran’s home, unlocked it and entered, accompanied by a large dog. The homeowner was asleep but was “jolted awake” by strange noises coming from downstairs. He grabbed his handgun and went to investigate, coming face to face with a man dressed all in black and masked.

The stranger grabbed the homeowner, who fell to the ground and, after a short tussle, shot the assailant. The intruder then fled, leaving behind the dog and some bloody footprints. A man was soon detained a few miles away with injuries that made him a suspect in this case, but the investigation was still ongoing.

The veteran told reporters that he was grateful he’d been able to defend himself and thus hadn’t been seriously injured in the altercation: “I had a little help from a friend, just a little friend.” (cbsnews.com; San Francisco, Calif.; 9/27/26)

Masoed fell to the floor and grabbed a handgun from under the counter. Firing twice, the owner critically wounded his attacker. (The Sentinel; Milwaukee Wis.)
