Armed Citizen® Today

An armed homeowner stopped his vehicle from being stolen in Washington County, Texas, according to police.

At 3 a.m. on May 9, officers responded to calls of a vehicle theft and met a homeowner who suffered a minor wound to his lower body. The man told police he had been alerted to activity in his driveway, and when he came out of his house, the alleged burglar immediately began shooting at him. The homeowner returned fire, causing the suspect to flee. The thief allegedly entered a nearby pickup truck that sped from the scene.

The homeowner was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and police are still working to locate the suspect. (Click 2 Houston; Washington County, Texas; 5/9/24)

After climbing through a window of the Birmingham, Ala., apartment of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kent, a wild-eyed intruder held the couple's two-year-old son hostage until Kent grabbed his 7.65 mm Mauser rifle and killed the intruder with a single shot. The child was treated for a cut on the neck. (The Birmingham News, Birmingham, Ala.)
