An assault suspect was found dead in an alley from gunshot wounds after allegedly attacking an armed citizen in Tucson, Ariz., according to police.

On Saturday, March 2, just before 11 p.m., the 40-year-old suspect and an accomplice approached three men in a nearby parking lot. The suspect displayed a firearm, causing the three victims to flee, but the two assailants followed them into an alley and began assaulting one of the males. One of the three victims then drew and discharged a gun, striking the suspect and causing his accomplice to flee the scene.

Police arrived on scene after hearing gunshots and being flagged down by two of the victims. When they searched the area, they found the deceased suspect dead in a local alley. His accomplice has not been found. Of the three victims, one sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. (Arizona Daily Star; Tucson, Ariz.; 3/2/24)
