The Life Of Samuel H. Walker book

Firearm enthusiasts will recognize the name of Samuel Walker due to his association with Sam Colt. A collaborative effort between the two men produced one of the most famous firearms of all time: the Model 1847 Colt “Walker” revolver.

The massive firearm was a fitting sidearm for a man who was larger than life, and Walker’s story is deftly told by authors David Sullivan and James Worsham in The Life Of Samuel H. Walker.

The 506-page book is a welcome work, as it represents the first in-depth biography of Walker and makes extensive use of a rich body of archival sources, including Walker’s personal letters.

Across 11 chapters, readers are treated to a vividly detailed journey of Walker’s life, from his early years and first fighting experiences in the Second Seminole War to his untimely death in the Mexican-American War.

An entire chapter is dedicated to the Walker revolver, as well, making it a must-read for historical arms aficionados.
