Heckler & Koch will introduce the much-anticipated compact version of the VP9—the VP9 SK—at the 2017 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Atlanta. The German-made striker-fired 9 mm compact model will feature the same characteristics as the popular full-size model, including the adjustable VP grip with interchangeable backstraps and lateral grip panels unique to HK pistols.

VP9 fans will also be happy to learn that the precision-strike trigger, with its short, light take-up and solid, single-action break and short, positive reset, will also be found on this new model. And with slide releases on both sides of the frame and the paddle style magazine release, the VP9 SK is completely ambidextrous.

"The VP9 SK is the right combination of compact size and firepower for a subcompact—and it's loaded with unique HK features like our adjustable ergonomic grip—the only grip in the industry that can be customized to fit any shooter," said Michael Holley, HK-USA Vice President for Commercial Sales and Marketing. "The VP9 SK possesses the accuracy and durability that shooters know they can expect from a Heckler & Koch pistol."

Also featured on the compact model are HK's patented charging supports, which were introduced on full-size VP pistols (polymer inserts that are mounted on each side of the rear of the slide and provide better gripping leverage for racking the slide rearward). The charging supports speed reloading and make operating VP series handguns easier for shooters with reduced hand strength.

Other features of note are the abbreviated Picatinny MIL-STD-1913 rail, and HK’s proprietary captive flat recoil spring, and the ability to accept a variety of HK magazines, including compact double-stack 10-rounders with flat or hooked, ergonomic floorplates. New 13-round and 15-round magazines with magazine sleeves that replicate the grip profile of the full size VP will also be available later in the year. MSRP: $719.

Weight on the pistol is 23.07 oz. VP9 SK pistols are available and shipping now from HK's Columbus, Ga., facility.  For more, visit HK-USA.com.
