Garmin has acquired Applied Ballistics, a leading provider of ballistic research, projectile data and integrated solver technologies dedicated to enhancing shooting accuracy. The acquisition extends Garmin's ability to provide comprehensive solutions for customers across its tactical, shooting sports and hunting markets.

Applied Ballistics develops professional-grade ballistic solvers and radar-validated projectile models for hunters, competitive shooters and other long-range customers. The company continues to expand its ecosystem of connected products, helping users improve accuracy, better understand their equipment and share trusted ballistic data across devices and applications—providing an unparalleled, science-based approach to long-range shooting.
Headquartered in Howard City, Mich., the Applied Ballistics portfolio includes the Applied Ballistics Quantum app, a premier ballistic solver and ecosystem management program that enables users to optimize their performance and make informed decisions. Financial terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed.
Applied Ballistics was established in 2009 by Bryan Litz, who worked in missile design for the U.S. Air Force after graduating from Penn State University in 2002 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. In 2008, he became chief ballistician for Berger Bullets and has written several books on long-range precision.
Garmin is widely recognized across the globe for revolutionary advances in the aviation, automotive, fitness, marine and outdoor markets—including the gun industry. This year the company introduced its Xero C2 chronograph, for example. Garmin International is a subsidiary of Garmin Ltd., which is incorporated in Switzerland. Its principal subsidiaries are in the United States, Taiwan and the United Kingdom.
