Barrett’s REC10 direct-impingement, semi-automatic rifle chambered in .308 Win. has been spoken of in hushed tones for a couple of years, but the platform which has already been accepted by the U.S. military as a medium-caliber, long-range rifle is officially here, and available for commercial sale. The heart of the REC10 is the 16" CMV barrel that is chrome-lined and button-rifled for a 1:10" twist. It operates with an intermediate-length gas system and a carbine buffer to back up the DLC-treated bolt carrier. Wisely, Barrett incorporated proven Magpul components including the 20-round magazine, MOE-SL buttstock, MBUS flip-up sights and a BRS handguard that is compatible with M-Lok accessories. The receivers are both machined billet aluminum, and the lower includes bilateral controls and houses the ALG Defense QMS trigger group. Barrett’s REC10 promises to live up to company’s reputation for battle-proven reliability, and, at just 8 lbs., it brings .30-cal. thunder to a very portable platform. barrett.net
