Handgun ammunition continues to evolve in new and interesting directions to serve the needs of consumers. Right now there is a push to reduce airborne lead produced during indoor practice sessions. To address this issue Federal Premium Ammunition has released the new Syntech bullet design as part of the American Eagle practice-grade ammunition line. The Total Synthetic Jacket (TSJ) bullet consists of a lead round-nose core completely encapsulated in a polymer jacket that provides several benefits when compared to traditional metal jackets. It reduces barrel wear with 12 percent less friction, eliminates copper and lead fouling and produces 14 percent less heat. The lead-free primers provide reliable and consistant ignition. The first offering out the door will be a 115-gr. 9 mm round.
