Springfield Armory's popular Range Officer model has been optimized for self-defense in the new Range Officer Operator, available in 9 mm and .45 ACP calibers and featuring a National Match stainless-steel barrel.

“Customers loved the value of the Range Officer configurations and the flexibility to choose between 9 mm and .45 ACP in the same great platform, so we made development of the new Operator a priority,” said Springfield Armory CEO Dennis Reese.

The pistol is equipped with features that can make a difference when split seconds count such as high-visibility fiber-optic front sights and low-profile combat-style rear sights that won’t snag during fast draws from the holster.

Designed around the full-size Government model frame with a 5" barrel, the Operator features an extended beavertail safety, aluminum match-grade trigger, skeletonized Delta hammer, and Picatinny rail. And while exterior dimensions are the same, the 9 mm has a 9+1 capacity, while the .45 ACP model's total capacity is 7+1. Both come with two magazines.

The new model sports a Parkerized finish to aid in warding off corrosion and rust. It also comes with checkered Cocobolo grips.
