More than 100 years ago Carhartt permitted the use of seven of its facilities to manufacture uniforms for soldiers during World War I, and later for the U.S. Navy and workwear for women entering the workforce during World War II. Now the iconic clothing maker is once again honoring its American military members with a Special Edition American “C” version of its best-selling Acrylic Watch Hat.

The best part? It’s free to active-duty and retired service members through the end of November, or while supplies last at one of Carhartt’s 21 company-owned retail store locations. All that’s needed is a military I.D. (The special edition hat will also be available for purchase at Carhartt’s-owned retail locations and on Carhartt.com for $14.99. See list of locations below.)

“Members of our armed forces are among the country’s hardest workers,” said Tony Ambroza, senior vice president of marketing. “We have a great respect for the men and women of our military because many come from families of artisans and craftspeople who’ve been Carhartt consumers for generations.”

Founded in 1889 in Detroit, Mich., the company currently employs more than 4,000 workers in the U.S. and Europe.
