Kimber's Master Carry Pro, one of the pistols in the gun maker's Master Carry series of 1911s, was the American Rifleman Golden Bullseye winner for 2014 Handgun of the Year.

In his feature story on the this latest series of 1911 pistols by Kimber, Wiley Clapp described the Pro model—which has a barrel/slide unit a full inch shorter than the Custom’s—as shooting as well as the longer, heavier gun, and handling almost as well. At 7.7" by 5.25" and weighing 28 ozs., it is short enough to easily carry, with a dramatic weight saving. This style of .45 has been called the professional’s choice, because it does almost as much downrange as the big gun, but is far easier to conceal, carry and deploy.

All pistols in Kimber's Master Carry line come standard with Crimson Trace laser grips, but the Pro model contains some other unique features, which are described in the "Rifleman Review" segment above from a recent episode of American Rifleman TV, hosted by American Rifleman's Joseph Kurtenbach.
