The Ruger 10/22 Takedown comes with both iron sights and a "Ruger" rail—Ruger's take on the Picatinny rail. Problem is, should your optic go down, there is no way to use your iron sights, as the rail system blocks them.

An easy solution is to change out the rail to an aftermarket see-through rail that contains a channel through the entire length of the rail, permitting an easy view of the iron sights.
