Armed Citizen® Today

An uninvited visitor to a Florida home encountered a resident ready and willing to defend his property early on the morning of April 7, 2023.

At 6:40 a.m., an unidentified man entered the front door of the house, walked through the residence and entered a bedroom, where he encountered the homeowner. The resident was armed and confronted the alleged intruder, firing several shots at him, which caused the suspect to flee from the house.

Police are still investigating the incident and have not yet found the intruder. (WMBB-TV, Marianna, Fla., 4/7/23)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives – June 1982

Rev. Martin Jarreau was asleep in the rectory of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Miami when he heard strange noises. He grabbed a .38-cal. revolver and went to investigate. He found a would-be burglar trying to exit via a bathroom window. Fr. Jarreau held the man, who had a long criminal record, for police. (The Herald, Miami, Fla.)
