Online transactions can create uneasiness for both the seller and the buyer when meeting in person to complete the purchase. This was exactly the case when a man was selling his motorcycle. Meeting near a convenient store, the buyer was joined by another man as well as a male juvenile. When the seller asked for payment for the bike, the juvenile produced a handgun and demanded the motorcycle. The seller, however, also had a gun, and shot the juvenile. The juvenile was taken to a nearby hospital with charges pending, and the two accomplices were charged with attempted robbery. The seller was not charged. (The Roanoke Times, Roanoke, VA, 5/19/18)

June 1982
Rev. Martin Jarreau was asleep in the rectory of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Miami when he heard strange noises. He grabbed a .38 cal. revolver and went to investigate. He found a would-be burglar trying to exit via a bathroom window. Fr. Jarreau held the man, who had a long criminal record, for police. (The Herald, Miami, FL)
