A man inside a Rainier Beach, Wash., apartment defended himself when an alleged intruder broke into the unit and opened fire on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022.

Around 10:30 a.m., the 39-year-old intruder arrived at the apartment, which belonged to his ex-girlfriend, and kicked down the front door. Armed with a gun, the intruder then opened fire. A 19-year-old man who was inside the apartment at the time armed himself and returned fire.

The man's rounds found their mark, striking the armed intruder multiple times. When police arrived, they found the wounded intruder, who was taken to a local medical center for treatment and kept under hospital guard. No one else was injured during the incident. When a man armed with a handgun broke down the front door of Leonard Owen's rural Boynton, Okla., house, taking it off its hinges, the 70-year-old homeowner took up his .357 Mag. revolver and fired twice, mortally wounding the burglar. Police searching the intruder's body for identification found the man has also brought nylon rope, a screwdriver and a club. (The Daily Phoenix, Muskogee, Okla.)
