Savage STANCE

Savage Arms announced a new line of handguns made specifically for concealed carry and self defense, the Stance. As the first line of purpose-built compact pistols made by the company in more than a century, the Stance is a micro-compact, polymer-frame, striker-fired handgun line chambered in 9 mm and offered with several features right out of the gate.

Similar to the SIG Sauer 320 line of handguns, the Savage Arms Stance uses a detachable metal chassis as the serialized component of the pistol. This chassis can be removed from the grip frame and re-installed into another. With this flexibility, Savage also offers a variety of replacement frames for the Stance with black, grey and FDE color options. Each of these grip-frame options have aggressive stippled texturing that wraps completely around the grip, along with finger indexing on the front. The grip also features two interchangeable back straps for small or large grip sizes, with the grip angle set at 18 degrees.

The slide of the Stance is made from stainless steel, and treated with a Melonite finish for corrosion resistance. Inside the slide rides the 3.2” barrel, which is also made from stainless steel. The slide features wide slide serrations at the front and back, with the serrations on the front being ported for increased purchase. On top of the slide, the Stance has functional front and rear iron sights, with the rear sight having a rounded back face to reduce the chances of a snag when drawing from a holster.

For controls, the Stance comes with an ambidextrous magazine release and slide catch. Models of the Stance with an ambidextrous manual safety are also offered. A takedown lever is located on the left side of the frame, which allows the pistol to be disassembled when turned without the need of extra tools or pulling the trigger. The trigger itself has a wide and rounded shoe along with a short reset.

Each Stance pistol comes with two detachable box magazines, with seven, eight and 10 round capacity options available. There are even models offered with night sights pre-installed and a package option which includes a Viridian E-Series red laser module. The retail price of the Stance line ranges from $479 to $561, depending on the specific model and features selected.
