FN USA announced a new addition to its popular polymer-framed, striker-fired FN 509 pistol lineup with the new FN 509 Midsize Tactical. Building off off the FN 509 Tactical line, the FN 509 Midsize Tactical fills the middle ground between the full-sized FN 509 Tactical and FN 509 Compact Tactical, offering greater grip space and magazine capacity over the compact while also being more faulty concealed than the fullsize.

Chambered in 9 mm and measuring in at 7.9" long and 5.2" high, the Fn 509 Midsize Tactical is geared as a multi-purpose pistol, be it for concealed carry, self defense or duty use. Its 4.5" stainless steel barrel is cold hammer-forged, features 1:10" right-hand twist rifling, a polished chamber and feed ramp, a recessed target crown at the muzzle and has 1/2x28 TPI threads for mounting suppressors. Also included on the barrel from the factory is a thread cap, with included O-ring for retention.

The steel  slide is topped off with a long-wearing PVD finish, has enlarged slide serrations on the front and back portions and features an external extractor along with a loaded chamber indicator. On top of the slide, the FN 507 Midsize Tactical has FN's Low-Profile Optics-Mounting System, which allows most popular brands of micro red-dot optics to be easily attached. The pistol also includes a set of suppressor-hieght, three-dot iron sights, with the rear sight making up a part of the mounting cover.

The Polymer frame features a textured grip and two interchangeable backstraps, along with a four-slot Picatinny rail segment molded into the dust cover. It also features completely bilateral controls, with the magazine release and slide catch located at the same location on both sides. The frame fits 15-round magazines, which the FN 509 Midsize Tactical is included with, but it also includes a 24-round magazines as well.

The trigger shoe features FN's style of blade-in-shoe safety, and has a duty-safe pull weight of 5.6 lbs. Unloaded, the FN 509 Midsize tactical has a weight of 27.9 ozs. It is offered in either black or FDE coloring, with both versions having a retail price of $1,069. For more information on the FN 509 Midsize Tactical, visit fnamerica.com.
