The compassion of firearm owners was highlighted in mid-October when Henry Repeating Arms announced its latest Guns For Great Causes effort—a launch of 50 limited-edition “Team Zach” lever-action rifles. The proceeds go to the family of Zach Bryant, a three-year-old from Cambridge City, Ind., undergoing treatment for B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). All immediately available rifles were sold by the time most media outlets opened the announcement.
Two, TEAMZACH01 and TEAMZACH50, are up for auction on GunBroker.com. Bidding closes on both on Nov. 4 at 9:00 p.m. EST.
Serial No. TEAMZACH48 stays with the family. They chose the number for Zach’s birthday, which is April 8. They plan to give it to him when he is old enough.
Henry retains none of the proceeds from the sales or the auctions. The money raised—all it going to the family—is expected to exceed $35,000 and ease financial burdens related to treatment rarely, if ever, covered by insurance.
Zach was diagnosed at two and a half. His treatment includes chemotherapy, steroids, lumbar punctures and bone marrow biopsies. It is scheduled to run through March 2028. Most of it takes place at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, nearly two hours from the family’s home each way.
The money from Team Zach is meant for the costs that pile up around a long treatment plan: gas for a lot of four-hour round trips, hospital bills that arrive between rounds of chemo, and enough breathing room for two parents to focus on their son’s mental and physical wellbeing instead of the next statement in the mail.
“The proceeds from the 50 donated rifles are an absolute blessing to our family during Zach’s cancer diagnosis,” said Logan Bryant, Zach’s father. “We are profoundly grateful to Henry Repeating Arms for their amazing compassion and dedication in making this campaign happen, and we cannot thank Henry and everyone who bid or bought a rifle enough for your incredible generosity.”
Everything Zach loves made it onto the “Team Zach” rifle. Full-color artwork on the genuine American walnut buttstock shows a yellow dump truck with “Team Zach” on the door, a red race car with his name on the side, a checkered flag, and a fishing rod with a fish on the line, all beneath a “Team Zach” nameplate. The rifle is Henry's H1 Frontier Carbine, a compact lever-action that chambers .22 Short, Long and Long Rifle. It has a 16.5-inch octagon barrel and a large loop lever.
“Zach is 3 years old and has already gone through more than I hope most of us will in our entire lives,” said Anthony Imperato, founder and CEO of Henry Repeating Arms. “We can’t make the treatment any easier for him, and we can’t cure cancer, but we can build something good, put his name on it, tell his story, and give the Henry Family an opportunity to help carry some of the load for his mom and dad.”
Team Zach is the latest campaign of Guns for Great Causes, Henry's charitable program, which to date has donated more than $4 million to support families of sick children, children's hospitals, military veteran organizations, law enforcement groups, first responder groups, Second Amendment advocacy organizations, and wildlife conservation efforts.
