The VP9, a polymer-frame, striker-fired, semi-automatic pistol, has become one of the most successful handguns Heckler & Koch has ever offered, and the design is in use by military and law enforcement organizations around the world. Over the decade since its introduction, H&K has continued to innovate and offer new versions of the original. The company's latest is the VP9CC, a pistol designed for concealed carry.

The VP9CC is a micro-compact version of the company’s proven VP9 lineup.

Like other models in the VP series, the VP9CC has bilateral slide releases, paddle-type magazine releases and rear slide charging supports for fully ambidextrous use. Its trigger, which the company calls “best-in-class,” has the same short take-up, crisp break and positive reset as the full-size VP9. Like all VP9s, it was subjected to NATO AC/225 testing specifications.

The VP9CC comes with six interchangeable backstraps to customize grip fit.

What makes the 9 mm-chambered VP9CC different from the company’s VP9SK and CC9? Its overall length of 6.02 inches and height of 4.41 inches is smaller than either an SK or CC9, as is its 3.13-inch barrel. At 20 ounces, unloaded, it’s slightly lighter than either as well. Instead of the VP9SK and full-size models’ interchangeable backstraps and side panels, the VP9CC only has interchangeable backstraps, but six different sizes come with each pistol to customize its fit. With a 10-round flush-fit magazine and 12-round extended magazine, the VP9CC matches the capacity of the micro-compact CC9. While the CC9 is made in the U.S., the VP9CC is made at H&K’s Oberndorf, Germany, factory.

The VP9CC has a new optics-mounting system that allows optics to be mounted 40 percent lower and co-witness with standard-height sights.

The VP9CC also introduces a new optics-mounting system. The proprietary system uses a deeper slide cut and an adapter plate that sits around the striker assembly. This allows the optic to sit 40 percent lower than a standard adapter plate-mounted optic so that it co-witnesses with standard height sights. The VP9CC comes equipped with a front post sight with a tritium insert set in a dovetail and a rear notch sight with a serrated face.

The VP9CC comes with an extended 12-round magazine. The pistol is optics-ready and is available with a factory-mounted Vortex Defender CCW optic.

The VP9CC has an MSRP of $1,049 or $1,399 with a factory-installed Vortex Defender CCW closed-emitter micro red-dot optic. For more information, see the company’s website.
