A stolen vehicle was identified in Orange Park, Fla., around 3 p.m. on Aug. 24, and police responded to apprehend the driver. However, the man and a woman allegedly fled in the stolen vehicle, striking multiple vehicles in the chase, and then suddenly stopped the car and attempted to flee on foot. The woman was immediately arrested, but the man reportedly ran into a nearby house, where a couple was home. The husband responded to the sudden threat by shooting the intruder in the leg.

An armed holdup man invaded the Miami, Fla., apartment of 50-year-old Lamar Johnson. When the invader turned his back on Johnson to demand money from another resident, Johnson sized the chance to grab a shotgun from her bedroom. The resident then fired her shotgun at her assailant, who fled the apartment, only to be arrested by police nearby. (The Herald; Miami, Fla.)
