Recently, Savage Arms has embarked on an ambitious project to update and modernize its extensive line of bolt-action rifles, and one of the latest enhanced models available is the company's 110 Core Tactical bolt-action. "This is a brand-new setup from Savage that involves the AccuFit Stock, which is push-button cheekpiece height and length of pull adjustments," American Rifleman Executive Editor Jay Grazio said. "It has replaceable palmswell segments. This little grip section here can be popped out, and they have different sizes, different thicknesses to perfectly fit it to your hand."
True to form, Savage includes its well-respected, user-adjustable AccuTrigger in the 110 Core Tactical, giving owners the ability to adjust trigger-pull weight from 1.5 to 4 pounds. One of the other notable features is the inclusion of an AICS-pattern detachable box magazine, and a bilateral release lever sits just forward of the trigger guard, making it easy to remove and replace magazines.
"These are designed as long-range rifles," Grazio said. "I was at an event where we were shooting this at 500 yards, and I understand that's not long, long range, but it's an absolute tack-driver. It's crazy how accurate these rifles are."
Each Savage Arms 110 Core Tactical is equipped with a three-position safety, providing a halfway position that allows the bolt to cycle while still preventing the trigger from moving. Other features of the Core Tactical include M-Lok attachment slots on either side of the polymer fore-end, and Savage has molded in an ARCA rail on the bottom of the fore-end to make it easy to mount the rifle on bipods or tripods.
"This particular model is in 6.5 Creedmoor," Grazio said. "That's one of the neat things. They are available in everything from .223 Remington all the way up to .338 Lapua."
