Federal Ammunition opened its Custom Shop in 2019 to provide an extra level of service to precision shooters, and the company's latest step tailors this service to Springfield Armory's Model 2020 Waypoint bolt-action rifle.

“The new Model 2020 Waypoint rifle from Springfield represents a level of features and customization you won’t find in other factory firearms. It’s only fitting that Federal Custom Shop would offer loads specifically built for the revolutionary platform,” Federal Ammunition’s Marketing Director Brian Anderson said. “Shoppers can now choose from several Custom Shop offerings loaded with Terminal Ascent and Nosler AccuBond bullets and optimized for the best ballistics and overall performance from their Model 2020 Waypoint rifle.”

Located inside Federal's Anoka, Minn., facility, the Custom Shop is staffed with an elite, experienced group of Federal employees, all of whom focus on handcrafting specially loaded rounds, one by one. The cartridges are created using the best available components, tailored specifically for optimal performance in the Model 2020 Waypoint rifle. After loading, each round is cleaned and inspected before being packed in Custom Shop packaging and signed by the employee who handloaded the rounds. Lead time on Federal's Custom Shop ammunition is about two weeks.

Two projectiles are available in the Custom Shop's Model 2020 Waypoint loadings, Federal's own Terminal Ascent and Nosler's AccuBond. The Terminal Ascent load tops a dedicated hunting load, while the Nosler AccuBond is loaded into cartridges designed for long-range precision shooting. A special portal on Federal's website allows hunters and shooters to select their bullet style, followed by their preferred bullet weight and rifle chambering. A separate section provides room for additional details, such as the barrel length, rifling twist rate and other firearm modifications that are relevant to cartridge production.

The price for a 20-round box of handcrafted ammunition from Federal's Custom Shop is $110. For more information, visit federalpremium.com. To learn more about the Springfield Armory Model 2020 Waypoint and its 0.75-m.o.a. accuracy guarantee, visit springfield-armory.com.
