SIG Sauer, based in Newington, NH., has announced a safety recall for the CROSS bolt-action rifle platform and urges owners to immediately discontinue use of their rifles at this time. This recall applies to all CROSS rifles currently manufactured by the company.

This safety recall comes after SIG Sauer viewed an online video in which a CROSS rifle exhibited a potential safety concern with a delayed discharge. The rifle in question was sent back to SIG Sauer, where it was confirmed through evaluation that the issue was related to the rifle and not ammunition. The CROSS rifle in question exhibited a mechanical issue in which the striker had a delayed release after the trigger was pulled.

The delayed discharge poses a safety risk to owners and users, given the unexpected delay and similar risks to a standard hangfire situation. SIG Sauer believes the issue could exist on other CROSS rifles currently in circulation, and it has decided to issue a safety recall to address this potentially dangerous malfunction. All CROSS rifles will be inspected and the firing actions modified to address the potential issue.

SIG Sauer asks that all current owners and users of the CROSS bolt-action rifle platform register for the recall process on its recall site or contact customer service at (603) 610-3000, option one. Following registration, SIG Sauer will send further communications to arrange for the return of rifles to the factory for safety improvement modifications. All shipping and replacement costs for the recalled rifles will be covered by SIG Sauer.

SIG Sauer requests that all CROSS rifle owners take immediate action and follow the recall process as it is described.
