Stoeger surprised much of the shooting world by introducing a striker-fired semi-automatic pistol at SHOT Show 2019. The full-size STR-9, chambered in 9 mm Luger with a 15-round detachable box magazine, measures 7.44” long with a 4.17” barrel. It weighs only 24 ozs. with an empty magazine.

The pistol’s steel slide features a corrosion-resistant black nitride finish, while the polymer frame makes use of an interchangeable backstrap system that allows the circumference of the grip to be altered to suit multiple users. Deep cocking serrations, located at both the front and the rear of the slide, make manipulating the gun’s top end simple.  A left-side slide lock lever is positioned for right-handed functioning, however the push-button magazine release is reversible for use by southpaws. A three-slot accessory rail is molded into the dustcover to allow the installation of a light or laser, and a Glock-style safety is incorporated into the trigger.

Perhaps most impressively, the base model of the STR-9, which comes with one backstrap (medium), one magazine and drift-adjustable three-dot sights, has an MSRP of only $349—placing it within the budget of virtually any self- or home-defender.
